Walnut Bowl "Petulant"

Project by swirlsandburls posted 271 days ago 333 views 0 times favorited 7 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Hi all, this walnut bowl (I’ll let you guess why I chose to name it “Petulant”) is simple, but elegant. I have been experimenting with this exterior shape and find it has unlimited variations. I just find it very appealing, and it tends to show grain patterns off quite well.

The colors include the rich browns we all love in walnut, but it also has blues, reds, slates, and tans. My wife does not want this one to go to the gallery! She likes it better on the coffee table!

It is finished in many coats of a wiping tung oil varnish, buffed and waxed with carnauba.

I see why the wife wants this one on the coffee table. The color and grain pattern is terrific. Nice work.

Very beautiful turning work. I like the stunning yet smooth flow grain pattern (just like hot chocolate being poured in it). And the rich brown colour is so tender.
I favorited this bowl as its really inspiring me to venture into turning work, one day.
