Here’s mitered box I made over the weekend. I glued up the top and bottom Saturday in the AM, prepped the sides and key stock early afternoon, milled the top and sanded the bottom late afternoon and assembled after supper. The next day I sanded and drilled for the Soss hinges, and then sprayed about three coats of laquer on.
The customer loved it. They took it to their (granite) shop and had the top engraved with some logos which some of you may recognize… Anyway the box was to gifted to a retire today. Wishing them the best, and hope they enjoy the box. Everyone else did apparently.
Please excuse the laundry room pix. I didn’t have enough time to set up lighting and background so this’ll have to do. And my iPhone camera has begun to crap out, I think….
It’s 3/4” walnut with maple keys. The bottom is solid 1/4” walnut rabbeted into the sides, just pinned in the center of the ends to allow for expansion. Overall size is 13” x 9” x 5”.
