This is an amazing project. I cannot imagine the talent and effort that it took to create this piece.
This is a wonderful creation.

His head is quite realistic. That would definately make me jump if I came across it in the garden! What are the teeth made of? I like your torch technique. If I may mention, your porportion is a little off (the front legs are a bit small and bother me), but overall, it’s a very nicely done piece. I suspect the log limited your length, but you did a good job making it realistic. The head really is nicely carved. Keep up the good work. I’d love to see more.

The teeth are made of bass wood, sanded in to shape. The head took one week to carve and the body another week. The log was long enough but was not wide enough to get the feet just right. By the way, this was only my third carving.

That is a really gorgeous piece. Nice attention to detail. I especially love how the head turned out. I think you made great use of the log. While the feet may not have been perfectly proportioned, they still look close enough make it look real. With that level of detail on only your third carving, it is just scary how good you might get as you continue carving. Keep up the great work.

Please take my critique as complimentary, as it really IS quite a magnificent piece, especially for a third project. I’m quite impressed. Keep up the good work!
