Just finished these small speakers last week. This is my 4th speaker build and the 2nd one from GR Research . The cabinets are made from 1/2” MDF and they are covered with Bamboo veneer. The finish is Watco Danish oil Black Walnut. They sound really nice on my desk. Imaging is really good, so the two speakers seem to disappear when playing music.

Nice looking cabinet. Built a few myself. Never used GR though. Peerless and Dayton.

I have wanted to try a speaker build. Is there a book for Dummies? I know nothing of cross overs, tweeters, woofers and the like.
I do really like the looks of your work.

Jerry, I am right there with you. I am not a speaker designer. I just like to build things and I like having a nice stereo system. Best way to get that without spending a fortune is to build your speakers. Danny at GR Research is a speaker designer. He designs and tests the speaker and then he sells kits that include the speaker drivers and electronic so you do not have to know all of that stuff. He includes plans for the box so that is all you have to build. If you stay true to his design/dimensions, you will end up with a very nice sounding speaker for the money. I know some guys like to figure out the design, and that is cool, but I just like to build things and do not want to lean how to be a speaker designer :)

His best value and great sounding speaker is his X-LS Classic 2-way speaker kit. With shipping, the parts are just over $120. This was the first speaker I ever built. Look at my other projects here and you can see pictures. Highly recommended. The best thing is he has a fourm over at AudioCircle where he will answer any question you have while you are building the speakers. HTH

I am sure they sound as good as they look.

Nice work.
