This bench was built for a friend as a gift for his wife The panels are solid resawn red oak.It is a storage bench built using red oak throughout. After completion we decided to put caning in the cross cutouts to keep thier cat from sticking her paws in them.I am not a fan of the traditional pyramid shaped through tenons with atrs and crafts furniture. The though tenons on this bench are flush with the tops of the arms and the arms are inlet to create a “pocket” which draws your thumb to it. I call them “ponder pockets” you sit on the bench and rub your thumb around the tenon/pocket and “ponder” your day

I’ve been “pondering” on building a shoe holder to place at the end of our bed – for his & her shoes. Wasn’t sure of my design – until your bench. Thanks, I’ll make a few modifications and I’ll have my shoe bench.

Very nice bench. I’ve had my eye on one line this for my entryway but haven’t got around the building it, I love the A&C style.
