This music box has been made from Cherry and Mahogany. The splints I used Maple. My wife and I go to thrift stores and sometime we find music boxes and I just remove the music machine.

Well, if she sounds as good as she looks, it’ll be sweet music to your ears!

Fred, it certainly looks sturdy enough. Cutting through the corner splines as you remove the top can give you interesting results and is a nice look, like you have here. The finish looks especially well done.
I have used that same source for getting cheap works. My friend Dale and I recently built some music boxes and we learned some things while we were making them. In the spirit of sharing, you might want to take a look at the posting. Keep boxing and keep posting.

That’s some precision, cutting through the splines like that! Thanks for the tip on finding music works. The things that are right in front of you, sometimes. Al, the link didn’t work. Could you post it again? Thanks for sharing. Edit: is this your link, Al?

Candy and Fred, yes the link you posted is the link I meant to send. Not sure what went wrong. So just in case, this is the link to some things Dale and I learned while making his music boxes. Candy, thanks for the help. I tried it out in this posting, and it worked while the original didn’t. Keep boxing and keep posting.
