Pill splitter.
in memory of my grandmother

Today a year ago my grandmother passed away, she was a icon in my life, one of these larger than life people.
This morning when I had to split one of my pills, it reminded me of her problems with her fingers in her old age and since I suffer from same osteoarthritis problems (early stages for me still), each morning I am cursing when I have to split the pills, it’s always painful for the fingers.

So today I decided it was time to do something about it and thought it could be a inspiration to others to make one as a gift for loved once or them self.

Small blog here as promised: http://lumberjocks.com/mafe/blog/55306

Pictures:
1. Pill splitter.
2. Put it in hand like this.
3. Then pills will not fly away.
4. Half a splitter.
5. My little new planes are at use.
6. My so wonderful grandmother.

Perhaps this can inspire to bring ease to others life’s.

Best thoughts,

MaFe

I don’t need to split pills for two weeks now, since I made so much testing and was so exited about how easy it was now, smiles.

I’m sure all of the seniors on this site can appreciate this one.

What did you use for the blade?

Just hardwood and made it a little pointed.
I do know we have a few with the same tired joints… Laugh.

Thanks, Mads!

My latest round of medications need split and I was wondering how to do it.

Very clever thinking as always. You might want to patent this quick…

Sorry to hear of the loss of your grandma.

A unique and interesting solution to pill fracturing. I wonder how it works on the little wee pills. ... like viagara. LOL

Hi,
jroot, thanks. You can just change the curve on it or give it a extra smaller curve in the center, I did think of this but don’t need one for tiny pills here.
Greg, yes I still have one and feel lucky.
Pat, thanks I am hoping it will be a useful one, can imagine many are struggling.
Soda, no patent, this is for love and from my grandmother. ;-)
Lew, then it has already proven useful. ;-)
Smalltime, I have a feeling that plane are goung to be a favorite, it kind of calls me…
Thanks,
Mads

Mads, you have my attention on this. I’m always splitting aspirin and the plastic one I have usually ends up shattering them.
Very useful for those in need. It’s on my list.

That is very neat, Mads. I’ll be a lot of people could use one. You may have to start production!!

Good thinking, my friend!!!!!!!!!!!
