My girlfriend fell in love with this scrap of padauk during visit to Rockler. I made it into an eyeglass case, with a spot for contacts, for her birthday. I added a strip of hard maple to get the thickness I needed. Stainless hinges and neodymium magnet closure. I started with one pair of magnets but it felt loose so I added two more magnet pairs. It might be too strong now. I chiseled a divot in the front edges for better purchase while opening and I think it works nicely.

Beautiful work, could you explain your method for creating the hollows for the glasses and contacts? Thanks for posting

I have access to Bridgeport mill though work and used a 3/4” round nose router bit. I imagine a plunge router with guide collar would work too.

Have your say...
