I made this walking stick as an experiment to see if a pallet could be used for something other than furniture. The construction was a straight forward laminate of thin lengths of wood. Cut out on a band saw and shaped. Getting a look that reflected the industrial nature of pallets and their rough look proved far more challenging. I didn’t want a fine finish, equally I didn’t want it to be crude. The wood had several flaws which I left visible and it stained in quite a patchy way. The top metal knob was made from a plumbing fitting and the bottom ferrel from two box spanners.
I have ended up with a good usable walking stick that will be good for keeping over excited dogs at a distance. I am not so sure if I like it or not.
