I call this a big mantle because it is 8’ side to side and the shelf is 3’ front to back. The upper portion is not sitting on the legs, but hanging on the wall,

Very good looking mantle….........and yes it is big. I got 2 islands coming up that I have to make that have corbels that are as big as those on your mantle. 4 on each island and both islands in the same kitchen. I don’t ubderstand why anyone would want corbels that big on an island. They really look good on you mantle.

I was really surprised when this was finished, the room is 16×16 with a 8’ ceiling with a tray of about 4” and I just knew the thing would overpower the room. I was wrong, it looked fine I guess it was because two walls had floor to ceiling windows that were about 10’ wide.
