The name is “Cowboy’s Chair” in Spanish. I’ve heard Mexican vaqueros call their saddle by this name. this chair is for me!! I got tired of the sorry Lazee Boy and gave it away, this is the replacement. I wound up having to hurry so the finish is not up to par, but…...... The wood is Alder. It was in the shop so it got used up. The construction is mortise and tenon. Pretty standard Morris Chair. (Thanks Schroeder and all) The finish is Ben Wood special Walnut with amber shellac as a sealer and Min Wax oil based poly over. The carved leather side panels are glued to 1/4 birch ply and held in with mirror clips. Carleen doesn’t like this method and thinks I should use trim strips in the future. I did the upholstery with leather and laced it on. Again not as good as I’d like but Carleen is always after me to do more “Rustic”. Thar she be!!! The arms have 3/8 inch of high density foam under the leather. I guess that’s about all.

Wow! A cup of mud, a Zane Gray, my dog curled up at my feet and sitting in that chair must be close to heaven….and you are going to go babysit cattle. Something is kittywampus in our world.

I disagree with Carleen, I think you made a masterpiece. Not a Maloof but an” Angle”. You’ve started a new line of furniture. Beautiful and comfortable looking chair Thos. GB, mike

That is truly a beautiful chair, Thomas. I think you’ve created something that combines the Arts and Crafts with the old Spanish style into a great looking chair. Thanks for the post.
