Here are two more jewelry boxes that I just finished up. A friend of mine saw the first one that I did and asked if I could build one for him to give to his wife as an anniversary present. I decided to build two, so that I could utilize my setup time better for each step in the process, and so that they could pick whichever they like better. The lighter colored box is quartersawn sycamore, which I had never seen before, but fell in love with the unique grain. The other is cherry that was actually just given to me by an older gentleman who was glad to see I was getting into woodworking and wanted to help me out a little. Both boxes have walnut accents. I used Brusso Stop hinges on these boxes instead of the barrel hinges like on my first one. I like them better, because I don’t need the chain to hold the lid from falling open. They are cashy but very nice. Overall I am very happy with how these turned out. Still not perfect by any means, but I am getting better and better with each project. Thanks for looking, and any pointers are always welcome if you see something that I can do to improve.
P.S. She chose the sycamore box as her gift.
