I started my first project as a new woodworker, a mobile table saw work station with a router extension. It is 72”x 28”. My thought is that on the bottom I will have drawers on the ends from both sides of the table saw and utilizing the center area, which will house the dust collection assembly as a storage for jigs as I make them. The top left side will house drawers on both sides, while the right side will be for the router extension. The lower drawer area on the right will be a I nice wide drawer to house router bits. I do plan on making one of the drawers storage for blades. The base will sit on 4” locking casters to help with mobility as I am using my garage as a workshop.

My plan is to skin the whole base with 1/2 ” Birch plywood or another type like maple, etc. I have even thought of maybe just trying to find some sheets of sanded regular plywood, since it is for the workshop, any suggestions. Whichever I use the finish I planned on using was 1lb shellac as a sealer then just Danish oil for the top coats, any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I have built this base with just the table saw, circular saw and a old craftsman router (it is a beast that I found at a pawn shop for $20). The saw I got from Craigslist for $300, cleaned it up and bought a new blade for it and I love it.

Looking good! Thanks for posting. I’ll be checking in for your final finished workstation pics.
