This was a quick project I just completed for a friend. He owns an RV made by the Blue Bird company—more commonly known for their school busses. Apparently each RV came with a clock made in the shape of their logo, but his was the only thing missing from his RV. He asked how to make one and I volunteered to make it for him because I knew it would be easy and I could do a good job. The process is relatively straight forward with a band saw and spindle sander, and the only part that required much thought was routing out the recess on the back for the clock mechanism.
The wood is Spalted Maple and it turned out to be perfect for this project. The spalting flows nicely with the shape of the logo and it is very interesting to see how it folds around the various curves. The finish is three coats of Arm-r-Seal. Overall size is about 24” x 7”.
