I had to try that wood whisperer board I keep seeing and found it to a good skiil builder. So I thought I would give a round butcher block a try, also endgrain. I made it out of maple. I think I will stick to rectangular if I make some for gifts, they were a lot less time consuming even though there was two kinds of wood to deal with.

I like them both. I am going to join the woodwhisperer cutting board club too someday.

Great job. The round one is very unique. Try it now with alternating blocks.

Thought a lot of work – I think you are on to something with that round one. I’d like to see it with contrasting woods….such as maple/walnut or something. I think it’d look SUPER sharp.

Alternating woods? You guys are gluttons for punishment. It was the sanding to get it round that I found difficult so alternating woods probably wouldn’t be that much more diffucult. I routed the finger holds before I rounded it off.
