Day beds for summer relaxing/sleeping on a screened in porch. The idea was to make them feel like they were from Bali or some Pacific Island, very simple and straightforward. African Mahogany with multiple coats of diluted spar varnish for finish. The mattresses were supplied by the client. I haven’t gotten back to take better pictures since she made the fitted sheet and pillows, but hope to soon (I’ll update if I do). The window guard/back rest is same material and finish.
I added two pictures of the screened in porch that holds the beds . It was built by my Dad, a carpenter of 30+ years.

Nice looking project. Are they planning to use them for sleeping on hot summer nights or mostly for lounging. I always enjoyed sleeping in a screened in porch, especially away from suburban noise. It looks like they have that luxury.

Yes to all, but especially the hot summer nights. The screened porch was actually built by my father and if I can find the pics I’ll post a few.
Thanks for looking

I agree – nice looking and workmanship – we have a LOT more snow off the screened porch!!!!

This is exactly what I’m wanting to build for my deck. Some of the “lounge” chairs are just not comfortable for a good snooze on a warm summer evening. Can you give a novice general instructions to get started?
