I figured since I was new here, I would post one of my first projects. The shelf part is maple. Three plys of 1/16” glued together while bent on a jig I had made on my workbench. The front a sides were capped with another ply of maple that I cut to hide the laminates. The “legs” are chestnut from a fallen barn that was well over 100 years old. I liked the mix of old and new. The shelf was originally intended to be upside down from what you see in the pictures. But my daughter liked it this way, so now I’ve had to make some custom picture frames to fit the shelf.
All comments are greatly appreciated.

Looks great, I have been at this for some years but I have gotten more Ideals from Lumberjocks then anywhere else . As a mater of fact you have given me an ideal for a future project. So welcome to LumberJocks I know you will like it here.

Pretty cool, do you have a pic of it in use? Welcome to the LJs.

I’ll give a welcome aboard, too! Looks like it would be quite comfortable in a pinch :-))

I like that you mixed modern color and lines with the old barnyard wood. It looks like the bottom of the legs aren’t angled to lie flat. Was this part of the design? Great piece.

It’s a wall-hanging shelf, so there’s no need for the legs to be level. It was originally supposed to be upside-down from what you see, so the “legs” actually would have held cd’s or books on the slopes. I used a keyhole router bit to route slots in the back the legs for hanging.

Oh, I see. I thought it sat on table or shelf. Now I like it even more as wall hanging shelf. Well done.
