This desk doubles as a computer desk. It is made from Yellow Poplar that came down in a storm. I milled the lumber from the fallen tree. The legs are tapered on the two inside faces and everything is joined using loose tenons.
The finish is two coats of mohagany gel stain and two coats water based poly.

Very nicely done and looks great. Always nice to use wood that is salvaged from trees you don’t have to cut down. Poplar is a nice wood to work with. Should servre you many years.

Thanks, I try to salvage wood that has come down either by storm or from new houses being buit. Most people I talk to ask, “we’re they out of wood at {big boss store}”. To me the piece is more interesting since it has completely been made by hand.

looks great – always nice to have a history or story behind the piece
