While my wife did NOT want me to make anything for her Christmas, I decided to make something anyway. I started this 3 days before Christmas and finished with little time to spare. The woods include Maple, Purpleheart and Walnut. With the exception of the Purpleheart, the wood was essentially scraps. While I originally finished it with Mineral Oil, I have say I didn’t like the end result. I have since refinished it with Salad Bowl Finish. Other than the amount time spent sanding it, anyone that has made one knows they are fairly simple to make. I am building up inventory to sell this Spring and I plan on making quite a few of these.

Beautiful combination of woods. I’d like to make one like that and put a juice groove around the perimeter. Did several a year ago with purpleheart and maple and used my plunge router for making the groove.
