Coat Rack and Shoe Bench

Project by Jon Parker posted 280 days ago 654 views 3 times favorited 3 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is a coat rack / shoe bench that I built for my parents for Christmas 2008. Why am I only posting it now? Because I just finished – I’m still pretty slow :)

Everything is made of Birch plywood trimmed out in leftover Hickory from my hardwood floor. The top of the Bench is a glue-up of Hickory, also leftover from the hardwood floor. I don’t have a jointer and plate jointer, so I just used the pre-existing tongue and groove for flooring to do the glue-up. All exposed screw holes are plugged with homemade plugs out of the same Hickory. I finished it with several coats of polyurethane.

I learned a lot and gained confidence to start the next non-shop project.
