This is a wall unit that was built in December 2003. I call it the Accent wall of the lighted glass accents used on it. It was built using oak wood with a lot of drawer storage. It has a total of 12 drawers and 9 doors. The upper doors on the piers are a combination of wood and Lexan plastic. Lexan is sort of like plexiglass. I chose this material because of the cost of having true smoked glass drilled for the screws.
The four glass shelves in this unit had a fiber optic effect that I used on them. I cut a dado in the back glass support. I cut it large enough to slide the glass in. In the center section I cut all the way through. When the light was put back there, it illuminated the back and but even better shown through the edge of the glass. When getting glass cut for something like this have the glass company polish the edge and not just sand it.
The bed also has two drink trays. These pull out from above the drawers. On this particular project I inlayed a piece of ceramic tile.
Some of the challenges on a project like this are the piers. If you notice the top section angles in but the bottom section stays square. What I do is I always lay out my top first to get the angle and keep the off fall for reference and setting up the table saw angle. I also divide the inside vertical into a top section and bottom section, cut the angle on the top section and re-dowel it to the bottom panel.
I didn’t have any building pictures of this one, but here are a couple of one similar:
Again not this particutlar one but shows one framed out.

Another great project Chris. It is always fun to see the projects continue to roll out of your shop.
