All, it has been a great time stince I have joined up here on Lumberjocks and thank you so much for such great inspirational ideas. This is my last posting for a long while as I head back to Sea for 3 years and forward deploying to Afgan and off the coast of Africa (pirate patrol). So after this project it is time to break down the shop and save it for another day.
The chest is made from Texas Pecan and White Ash. I got the idea from Fine Woodworking but did not want to build the one they displayed but build one unique to my own design. The construction is all mortise and tenon (with through tenons). The panels are solid Ash and all from one board as you can see the grain wraps all the around the chest. The finish I am using is Danish Oil, Tung Oil, Wipe-on Poly and wax. I still have to make the sliding drawer for the interior.
I will post final pictures once completed and again thank you guys and Ladies for such a great time and see you again soon.

Senior Chief -
Thank you for your service to our country! I wish you a safe deployment.
This is a beautiful chest. Wonderful lines, great wood selection and an outstanding finish. Great job matching the grain on the front panels . . . an often overlooked detail.

Be careful, Senior Chief, let us know when you get back, maybe tell a story about your tour if you feel up for it. Calm seas and god’s watchful eye be with you,

I like it. If most pirates are like the ones from who took that oil tanker a while back. Pirating seems to have gone down hill from its glory days. The US Navy should not have a problem.
Stay safe.

A great project to finish up with before your break from wood working. Don’t forget to take along your list of next projects to work on for when you get back to the shop.
Take care of yourself out there, you will have a few thousand or so LumberJocks thinking about you and praying for your safe return to us. God speed. . . . . . .
