Was down to my local wood workers store, when my eyes saw this chunk of ” 2×12x24 ” quilted maple. Well, I just couldn’t walk away from it. I thought how nice my canes would look with some nice wood. Was I right? I think so. The maple, with some purple heart and some little spacer wood, not sure what that is, and good old walnut. Went to a friend that depends on a cane daily. He works with precious stones and loves hand crafted items, He just about made my head explode with his gracious thanks. Man was that worth it. Got me all inspired to do more. Still have more of that chunk of maple left. Stand by. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, just a hobby, having fun. Would love to make some money, maybe someday, probably not. Never much good with getting money so I gave it up for pleasure. Poor people appreciate a gift and I love seeing their pleasure. Making canes right now, will be doing something else later. I never know. Retired, with a tight belt.

Nice combo of woods….do you just glue up the different species? Is there any inner support for strength or do you just depend on the glue up?

There is a wood dowel holding inside. I groove the dowel and inside drill holes so there is lots of holding power.
