Here’s a turned lidded box made out of Cocobolo with an Ebony lid and finial.
It stands 7 1/2” tall from the base to the top of the finial and is about 3” in diameter at its widest. The base is 3 1/4” tall and the finial and lid is 4 1/14” tall. It is finished with EEE Cream and Turner’s Polish.
I call it ‘Vase On Vase’ because I happly discovered while turning that the grain pattern looked like a vase. I continued to turn it, trying to follow the shape of the grain.
The domed lid sits inside the undercut rim of the base and has a concave bottom. The finial was turned separate.
Thanks for looking! All comments welcomed!

VERY Cool! I like it a lot. I have a lathe but don’t spend a lot of time on it.
