Norm's Router Table and a ToolChest I made for my friend.

Project by David_Bethune posted 289 days ago 1186 views 8 times favorited 25 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I see that other people on here have made Norm’s router table also. It’s a great table, made mine out of Maple and Walnut. The door is magnetic, so I can just remove it. I made the tool chest also for my friend Brian.

I love the look of this piece and the fence is real nice. Are the plans for that included in the project from Norm?

That looks great!... I’m in the works to build a router table, I may just join the gang and go for this design. Very, very nice.

I always admire you fellows who build “pretty” shop cabinetry. I usually go for functionality over beauty when it comes to shop pieces. I couldn’t leave I thing of beauty like that in my shop for fear of dinging it up. Nice work.

BioHaz: Yes the plans for the fence are included from Norm.
Mark: Yes I have the plans for it. I really don’t need them anymore maybe we could swap for something if your looking to build one?

David, this is one of the nicest versions of this router table that I have seen. You not only executed an excellent build but also put a lot of effort into adding hardwoods and form to the project. Most of us, I daresay, would simply opt to focus on the functionality of the table. But you addressed both form and function. And I have to agree with Todd’s comment that this is almost a piece of furniture rather than a shop fixture. But your rendition is an inspiration. I have planned to do one of these for some time now and this certainly makes me want to get started.

Thanks for the post.

I don’t have any more pictures of the tool chest and he took it home..:) So I can’t take anymore. I did make a top chest for it also, but no pics..
I had no plans for it, I just designed it myself.
Thanks for the comments

I have a “Norm” router table too but it doesn’t look nearly this nice. Nice job!

It is amazing how many variations on this general theme I have seen, even just here on LJ. It is a good, functional design that certainly meets my modest needs.

That is way too pretty to use in a shop! I would consider myself very lucky to have something that nice looking in my living room!
