When visiting my friend’s carving studio I looked into his discard bin and low and behold this colourful piece of wood caught my eye. It was small in dimensions, 4×3 x 2, and was severely checked. This was my cocobolo rescue.

I took it home and it had sat in my carving room for several months before I tackled it with one of my boot patterns. Cocobolo is not easy to work with but I pushed on and the work boot shown is the result.

My carving burrs were taxed heavily but the finish achieved was worthwhile.

Enjoy!

Amazing piece. According to the dimensions, this could go in Minnie’s closet. Nice work.
