This was a many first for me. Working with this raw beautiful wood was a delight but also somewhat difficult. Its a very a heavy porous wood. I dont have a planer so there was alot sanding that took place. I did a lot of research on how to finish monkey pod. Even though it was time consuming it was so worth it.

What a beautiful piece. You did a wonderful job on that one. I also like working with Monkey Pod….have you worked much with Koa. Most of what I build is from our locally grown woods. Which Island are you located…I’m on the Big Island.

Thank you, I really enjoyed working with this wood. It was a challenge but I got through it .No I haven’t worked with Koa. I would love to work more local woods. Haven’t really had the opportunity. I’m on Oahu.

Beautifully made chest. The wood seems to blend together. Very nice work.
I heard of Monkey Pod, but never worked with it.
