Spring has sprung! The birdies are coming from the south and I’m carving up a storm!! or Minnie mouse’s dancing shoe.
A wood turning friend challenged me with an irregular piece of maple burl, the dimensions were awkward to say the least. As I began to handle the wood the first thought was a woman’s dancing shoe, broad toe and moderate heel to allow for some toe tapping and jiving. Who else fit the bill
? but Minnie Mouse!
I kept the burl for a live edge and finished it with a varathane coat. Enjoy!

Gorgeous. I can see Minnie ” cuttin’ a rug” in a pair of these for sure. Nice job and a challenge well met.

spectacular, your capitalizing on the natural burl takes it over the grander edge. congrats.
