I love Ohad Milner’s wooden tools, so I thought that I would post one of mine. I made this last winter when I was between projects. The handle is mahogany, the blade is popular, the strongback is oak, and the screw covers are oak dowels. The finish is wipe on poly with Brix wax. You might noticed that a lot of my old projects end up in my shop. The shelf was made for a house that we sold twenty years ago.

Very nice. Love the whale and clipboards also.
-- Scrap Wood's the best...the projects are smaller, and so is the mess!

You have made a beautiful handle for the back saw. I have to make a handle for my back saw. What is the thickness of the wood for the handle? I never knew that back can be made out of wood. The clipboards are also nice. Have you used plywood for them?

Sharad, The handle was made out an inch an one half thick piece of mahogany. I copied the shape from a toy hand saw, and then kept enlarging it until I had the size that looked right to me. The clipboards are made from solid wood. They were the first things I made when I got my Delta planer. It’s a great way to use up scrap wood.
