A Pair of Scrub Planes

Last year my father made me a beast of a jointer. I liked it so much I wanted a whole set! I decided to repay the favour and make each of us a matching scrub plane. (He made himself a Jack in the same style already)

The main body is oak with wenge sides and a rosewood sole and tote. there’s inlaid brass runners in the sole (the jointer has the same) and 1” brass rod buttons for smashing on.

the plane itself is just shy of 12” long with a 1.5” wide scrub blade (a replacement blade for the veritas scub plane)

I’m fairly new to the youtube scene but I did post a series of videos capturing the build process.

Here’s a link to the first video of the series:

If you have any questions pertaining to the build please look me up on Facebook @ joncarrollwoodworks

Not only are the planes a work of beauty, but the video series was very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Well done.

What a wonderful story, that you and your father exchange crafts and love like this.
Lovely planes, your father must be a man full of joy now.

Very clean and well crafted planes, impressive to say the least! Very cool to share something like this with Your Dad. Makes for long lasting memories, good stuff !
