Jenna, at work, has a few kids that sometimes get outta ‘hand’. She asked me to make a paddle for her and this is what I came up with. It took about an hour and a half with the small router and a rasp bit. Enjoy

About 20 years ago my daughter-in-law brought me a rough sketch of a paddle she wanted me to make. I asked her what she intended to use it for and she proceeded to tell me it was for disciplining my Grandchildren.
I asked her to put her name and address on the drawing and I would send it to ‘Child Protective Services’ and if they sent it back to her ‘approved’, I would give it some thought. She was serious about having it built and I was serious about sending her name to CPS.
That was the last project she ever requested from my shop.

I’ve never been one to argue disciplinary tactics, so I’ll just leave the conversation with this thought.
“When a child hits a child, we call it aggression. When a child hits an adult, we call it hostility. When an adult hits an adult, we call it assault. When an adult hits a child, we call it discipline.”― Haim G. Ginott
