The box is walnut with extended dovetails. Top is curly cherry with a curly maple tree of life inlay which is itself inlayed with crushed malachite. I made the inlay for another project that didn’t work out. Over 20 hours in it alone. The lid has a lip routed around the edge so that it sits inside the box and has two rare earth magnets to make sure it doesn’t move or rattle around when the top expands and contracts with humidity.

The inlay looks great. I like the crushed malachite as well. I also like the magnet idea i think ill use it when i do another lid like yours. Great job!

You did a great job on this. The inlay DOES look time consuming but you nailed it. Like the extended dovetails and the woods you used too. It is a fine piece of work.

Thanks guys. The magnets work well, Woodhoarder. I don’t think they look too bad either. It’d be easy enough to hide them under some very veneer capping the holes too I suppose.
