I wanted to build a stand to display a vase that my wife and I purchased from our favorite glass blower, Peter Muller (http://www.afternoonglass.com/). I picked up this nice Maple burl cap on ebay and used it along with Bubinga to build the stand. Love working with Bubinga, smells like cigars when milling it up.
It measures 15”X11”X33” and is finished with multiple coats of Waterlox.
Thanks for looking.

Ron, that’s really cool. I love that piece of burl!
My only criticism would be that the beauty of the stand probably takes too much focus away from the vase.

“Yuck!” was my first thought on seeing the burl, but; it makes you keep looking at it and then WOW!, what a very intresting and beautiful work of art (both vase and display stand). Charlie is right, the display stand takes away from the vase.

Great design, simple, elegant, beautiful. Really like it. I think it will show how much respect you have for the vase by giving it such a nice display.

Thanks guys. Peter ,the glass artist, sent me a picture of some of his high end pieces on two tables he bought from me and I felt the opposite. The Glass took away from my tables.

Wow is right. I love the wood choices and I have to agree with Charlie. The stand stands out more than the vase.
