I’d like to share these two signboards I carved for one of my customer’s boat. He was retiring and wanted to mount them on either side of the bridge.
Before starting I took an alphabet to a blueprint reproduction store and had the letters enlarged based on how long the boards would have to be. Most all the carving was done using a native Alaskan styled carving knife which I had made. A carving chisel and skew were used for some of the clean-up.
The letters were painted with sign paint and the excess was sanded off the surface. Final finish was three applications of Teak Oil sanded between coats.
