This pair of side tables was completely conceived, drawn and hand carved by me, according to my personal interpretation of the Portuguese Baroque style “Dom João V”. They were built to compose a set together with the previously shown bed, thus they acquired some of the bed’s decorative motifs. Only hand tools were used. They were entirely made of a solid Brazilian rosewood called “Caviuna” reclaimed from a fallen tree. All the details were excavated, not applied on the background. Their tops are granite slabs. The finishing was done with a personally prepared wax (carnauba, bee’s wax, turpentine, etc.). They took 2 years to be completed (1982) and they are 21 inch high. For their accomplishment I used two chisels, one gouge, two rasps, a power hand drill and hand saws, as well as a rubber mallet in order to reduce the noise produced.

I have been following your posts for a while now and there are not enough words to adequately describe your skills and workmanship. Suffice to say, you are without an equal.
After viewing these masterpieces, I couldn’t help wondering- do you sell them? Were they commissioned? The time you have invested in each piece certainly must limit any other endeavor.

Again the, like all of your other posted projects, the vocabulary does not exist to properly state how stunning (in every way) your work is.
