After I made my first woodworking project, Purple Martin bird house ( http://lumberjocks.com/projects/13557 ) for 80 years old man, I decided to make for the same man magazine stand as a Christmas present. This person receives lots of different catalogs via postal mail and he use to have magazine stand, but lately his magazines and catalogs were all over the place. So… I decided to try to make my first piece of furniture and my second woodworking project. This project was WAY out of my league since I don’t know how to make furniture and making bird house was my only woodworking experience. And the only person who could give me an advice was that 80 years old man, but at the same time I couldn’t ask him for advice because I was making present for him. So… I really had to put my brain to work on this one… It might not be 100% perfect… but I’m really proud of it! And if honestly, I feel like it’s a miracle that it turned out good )))).
This magazine stand made out of solid oak. Dimensions are 24’’ W x 11’’ D x 23-3/4’’ H.It took me 12 days to make it (with some sleepless nights). If you would like to see some of my other projects (most of them are mosaic), you can look at them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22079701@N07/.

Excellent work. I particularly enjoyed the story behind it, and then I looked at your mosaics… great talent.
