My father in law needed a new table for his Big Green Egg. I decided to make on without visible screws. The legs and stretchers are joined with mortise and tenon joints. The bottom slats are screwed on via pocket hole screws, and since the top is a solid panel I used spax lag bolts in elongated holes. The wood is sapele and the finish is General Finish Outdoor Oil.

The table is made to fit a small Big Green Egg table cover so the top dimensions are 25” Wide X 41” Long.

Here is a nice pile of Sapele. I used maybe 1/4” of this for the project. I got a good deal on the wood because it was the bottom of stack that had been picked through and they wanted to get rid of it since it was badly twisted and bowed.

Some glue ups

Before the finish

Very nice! I helped a friend with a similar project recently, but this is a showpiece…

Have your say...
