Rocket fin style legs integrated into octogon box. wood is paduck and northern cherry. birdsmouth joint between legs and sides. Beveled the octogon top on the tablesaw. French curve used to produce curve on legs. Finished with tounge oil and poly. Box aspect ratio changed some when the planer ate some of the curly cherry.

Haskins, I like the concept of angled legs. In these pictures, they look a little massive. They may appear differently when seen by eye. Perhaps they need something to break up the line on the outside of the legs. The bird’s mouth joint is a nice idea. The finish is well done. The top seems to help balance the leg size. To just share ideas, click on this similar box. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Thanks for your comments. I like the leg size but not the box’s aspect ratio. We lost some of the board when it jammed in the planer And just kept going with what we had. I think it needs some kind of detail (trim, curve, etc) along the bottom of the cherry. We have a sister box where the legs curve in a concave direction. I plan on posting it in the next few days. It’s an inch or two shorter, so the aspect ratio is better.
