I took art classes when I was much younger. So when my mom told me she wanted a painting for her living room I knew I could make her something that would be more personal and would cost a heck of a lot less if I could manage to utilize some plain old 2×4’s. She was very pleased with how it turned out to say the least and I no Picasso but I think it turned out pretty nice. I have some more info at my webpage if you are so inclined to check it it out – https://nickferry.com/?p=1044

I kid you before, but really this came out like a piece of art. Had you pointed to it on your mother’s wall, I would have thought it was a high priced painting. Mom’s got to be happy.

Stretching the canvas can be a real pain. I did not see you use stretching pliers.

It is a lot of work and your contemporary painting looks really good. I am sure you mom will love it for years to come.

thanks, she loves it – I have used duckbill pliers before but I find it quicker to use my hands when stretching raw canvas but pliers can sometimes help

If I had a dollar for every stretcher bar frame I’ve cut,.......well there would be nicer tools in my shop. My wife is an artist.
