I made another Roubo bookstand to bone up on my hand tool skills.

This time I included some simple shallow carving detail around the top. It’s pretty easy – define the edge with a craft knife then use your bench chisels to pair away some material. Sand smooth.

This bookstand is made from reclaimed Merbau, finished with Tung oil and Carnauba wax.

Nicely done, I like the design a lot. I also like the way you cut the hinges at an angle that ends up leaving a flat when opened up. Much better than trying to make a perfect curve.
