Fishing priest
the last prayer…

I was with a friend on a small tour to Sweden, here I found a beautiful old fishing rod in a box I could not resist.
So I bought the lot and once home I decided to bring back life and add some new to this old set.
One of the things I wanted to add was a priest that was small enough to fit in the box and yet heavy enough to do it’s job.

(A priest is the tool you use to kill the fish fast and easy, may they rest in peace and my stomach).

Pictures:
1. The priest.
2. Turning a handle.
3. Weight from brass and bling from plexiglass.
4. Glue up, epoxy and making a repair.
5. Bling. ;-)
6. Now ready to go fishing.

Perhaps this can inspire to make some fishing tools,

Best thoughts,

MaFe

I suppose you use the fishing priest as a club to knock it out? That’s a nice fishing box set that I’m sure has quite some history with lots of good stories to tell if it could speak. Although, the patina on it is speaking volumes! Nice save.

Wonderful box of goodies. Is that an old ABU multiplier hiding in one of the compartments. I have a Record 1550 Model C that looks very similar? The priest is a worthy addition.

Nice post!

Fishing Priest. HA That’s what I need, someone to pray for me when I’m fishing so I actually catch something…

What a great find. I have for some time wanted to build a fly fishing pole. Something about the feel of a wooden pole as compared to fiberglass. Love the box. Like MMH said, If only it could speak….... Never heard of a Priest to dispatch the fish. I just try to drown mine…. chuckle

Agree, it looks original to the set, Mads. Well, maybe not the plexiglass, but who cares, it’s cool. Thanks for sharing.
