Beautiful mantle…............job well done. How many mantles have you built? The largest mantle I have made was about 7 feet wide and was a mantle on a mantle that was 2 stories tall. Wish I had a picture of it but I don’t.

Thank you everyone for your posts i really appreciate it. To answer Cabinetmaster’s question, this is my 1st mantle. And i will get some pictures of the area below the hearth as soon as i can get back to the client’s house, hopefully soon.

What size lumber did you use for the mantle itself? Was it 6/4?
