My first attempt at wood charring, this was Spalted Leatherwood and didn’t like the heat, developed lots of cracks which I am thinking of using a coloured wood filler for contrast. This a well burnt vessel not charred.
Also first attempt at wood dyeing. Red, green, blue were used by obviously I mixed the dye to strong.
Commenbts require on how to do both these skills.

Never tried either technique. Nice turning though. I have seen a lot of turned objects that have been died and I think I might have to look into that technique myself.

Hmmm..I’ve seen the charring on chain carvings but not on turned items. Neat idea! Dyes, I have never used sorry, can’t help you there but will watch for future projects on this. Thanks for sharing!
