I’m playing swapsies with fellow LJ chrisstef. He found something very appealing to me at an antique store awhile back and we struck a deal. So I present to ya’ll a split nut driver for saw nuts and plane screw driver for the screws that attach the chip breaker to the blade. Both used cut up speed bore bits, plumbing fittings for the ferrules, and walnut handles. The plane driver is a claro walnut, and the split nut driver is a crotch walnut that LJ BigRedKnothead gifted me. I am really surprised at the color and figure difference. Red’s crotch has a wonderful figure that stands out beautifully ;) But the claro is a little muddied. Both were finished with Danish oil and Howard’s feed n wax.

Fun little project that I will be making another set for myself.

Thanks for looking.

Beauty! Speed bore bit – der duh. Gonna make me a plane screwdriver, I’ve been disappointed with every normal screwdriver I’ve used on them.

Thanks guys. Lathin’ provides faster gratification than a lot of other woodworking for me, so I’ve been spending quite a few hours there as of late.

Good work Todd. Your in and out radii transitions look really good. I seem to loose my diameters a lot by the time it get them close. Thanks for the bore bit idea, I’ve been trying to figure out what to use while undressing the one at lee valley. Stef will get a lot of use from those I’m sure.

Very happy to be on the recieving end of this swappy swap. Buttery smooth finish on some outstanding walnut pieces. Ill be putting them both into the front of the rotation immediately.

I love the stamped initials.

Linked together … Forever. Sniffle.
