This is my first project after completing the hybrid Roubo bench. Also I purchased the Kreg system and its the first time using it to build with. The wood is red oak and 3/4” oak ply. The finish is poly shade. The concealed area is locked and to open it you must open the drawers at precisely the right combination. This was the first of 2, and I also made a coffee table and two end tables in the same style and colour. The locking mechanism is made from oak sticks and channels. Here’s some build pics,

Hers my Kreg mounted on a jig to allow for fastening large plywood pieces.

It was a great test for the system. It allowed great adjustment of the drawers.

Hers the stand with finish.

And here’s the concealed area,

And with all open.

Thanks for looking, any questions just ask.

The lock is wooden only. Nothing to fail.

Nice use of the pocket screws. You’d never guess it looking at the assembled exterior.

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. They were a joy to make, I just love the Kreg pocket hole joinery system. For the first one it took some learning but now it’s so easy, I’ll use this in a bunch of ways in the future. Thank you everyone for looking and commenting, any questions please just ask.

Nice work!
Would you mind sharing the details of your “locking” system ?

Great job! I love hidden compartments – such a great way to increase storage space and keep items secure. Thanks for posting.

I won’t post the locking mechanism on this open forum, but if you request I will post a drawing to your personal info on this site.
