Rustic Carved Oak Log Chilean Reclining Slab Chair Seat Wood Handmade Folding

This is copied from a native Chilean design.

Made by carving the two sections from a single peice of aged Chilean Oak. Nos screws, nails, glue or other materials are used. Only Oak is used, from one peice, which is sculptured to create this rustic yet increadibly sturdy chair. Understandably this chair is extremely heavy since it is pure, dense, aged Chilean Oak. The finish is rustic and comes in a rugged natural form. The wood has been lightly sealed to offer some protection but is otherwise in its natural state.

Currently selling this on ebay

Great looking chair! Very interesting design, and looks comfortable, too!

Thanks Dean. Its like a mind puzzle to work out. The Mapuches made these with just hand tools, a really hard job. Its fun watching peoples reactions when you ask them how the two parts of wood got intertwinned. Takes even the brightest a while to figure it out. The are looking for joins, glue, a technique to slide them through.

It is rustic so for long periods you might want a cushin but it is more comfortable than most hard wood chairs. you get a surprising amount of movement in the recline and the sheer weight of the wood keeps it all in place.

Thanks guys, I think I should have made a video for this one since its hard to convey the construction through photos alone.
