Another deadhead cypress box, I’ve got to break this box habit and get on with it. Anyway, my grandfather was in Port Security at Port Everglades, Florida during WW2 or what Archie calls “the big one”. He had to buy his own sidearm, a 32 cal. Colt automatic. It passed on to me so I built a box for it. Actually it’s a double decker box with a compartment for the holster below the pistol inset. The lining is homespun linen and the photo is my grandfather, my grandmother and my uncle who was in the Navy, South Pacific, at the same time. My grandkids are fighting about who eventually gets the box and pistol. I think I’ll auction it off to the highest bidder. It’s 9×12 and I have sold a couple custom pistol boxes by showing it. Ars Gratia Pecuniea.

Nice job on the pistol box and relating the history of the Colt .32 acp. Did you use a plan for the box or just ‘wing it’? I like the homespun linen interior – it adds a lot!

Nice box. Great heirloom~
I like the thought of auctioning it off.
Nothing quite like family fighting over a loved one’s posessions. Is there an emoticon for sarcasm???
Some of the saddest family stories I’ve known were exactly over that.
Wonder why more people don’t make wills and discuss their wishes…
