My daughter wanted the American Girl Doll crib for her birthday. I couldn’t bring myself to spend upwards of $150 on something that looked like it should cost $50 (if even that). So I made one. Her actual baby crib was recalled when she was only 9 months old, so the rails on this one scavenged from that one. She loves telling people that it’s partly her “real” baby crib.

The support for the canopy is attached with a short dowel and magnet so that it can be pulled off rather than broken off when someone leans on it.

Construction is all pine and birch plywood and all doweled together. The only screws are those that hold down the drawer slide.

Great job, Travis. We got one of those American Girl dolls for my daughter and she will get it for her birthday. The prices on furniture are robbery, and my wife is on my case to make a bed for it. I’m definitely going to steal some elements from your crib for the bed I’ll be making. Cheers!
