Hi everyone!
First of all thank you for the warm welcoming on this web site! Very nice site! Tons of great stuff here! Now some introduction…I’m a complete amateur. I don’t have any woodworking education and nobody ever showed me how to work with wood. But I like learning new skills and I like challenges :). This summer I decided to make a Purple Martin bird house for one old man. He use to have two of those, so I decided to make him happy and build bird house for him.
I don’t have my own tools and I practically never worked with wood, but this man has tools, he use to work with wood long time ago, before he became a plumber. He had a big doubts that I can make Purple Martin’s bird house, was asking me if I have any woodworking education, but after his son told him to let me try, he gave his “OK”. His son only showed me in 5 minutes basics of using overarm saw. That’s it. The rest I’ve done by myself. It took me one month to build this bird house. It’s not really unique and nothing special, but for now showing you this as an introduction. So… here is my firs project to your judgment.

P.S. I used cedar to make it.

This is a really nice house. It has a nice design to it and I am sure it made a wonderful gift. I appreciate the story behind the project. I have often said that the story behind a build is often as important as the project itself.

Well done!

Looks pretty good to me!

I like the way the way you made it to be able to do “house cleaning”!
