Great box! Tell me more about the secret mitre dovetail joint. I’m not familiar with it.

This is a gorgeous box. Offsetting the handle is a design element that adds visual interest to the box.
Nice job.

Sometimes the elegance of keeping something nice and simple is all you really need. I think this is one of those times.
I particularly like the contrasting wood feet.
Charlie, I think this is what you’re looking for (from sawdustmaking.com):

Really nice box. The offset handle is a nice touch. I curious about the hinges. What kind are they and do they show out the back side? Also how thick was your stock. I’m in the process of designing a box for a 1911 and these hinges look like they would work perfect for me. Thanks

I think the material started off at about 18mm thick as I recollect to allow plenty for the jointing and mitres. The handle is a seperate piece of teak that’s been dovetailed in to the side and then shaped with small carving gouges and scrapers to the correct shape (a semi tear drop) Hinges are standard brass butts about 30mm long – Rob

This is an absolutely beautiful box. I love the subtle shape of the flared sides. That detail on the finger catch is so nice, especially how it is sculpted out of the same piece as the box side. That took a lot of forethought. I also really like the feet. Very nice. FAVORITED.
